Samsung to unveil Galaxy Note 9 in Brooklyn on August 9

The reason for the surprise is because this is likely the launch event for the Galaxy Note 9. Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event is scheduled to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on August 9 at 11 am E.T. (8:30 pm IST). The timeframe certainly lines up.

In a short video teaser, Samsung is clearly hinting at an improved S Pen for this year's model.

Samsung is without a doubt the biggest name in the Android world, and so if you are considering purchasing a new phone, logic dictates you may be looking to pick up a phone made by the ...

As for the specifications, there will remain nearly the same as Galaxy S9 and S9+.

One of the certainties this year is the arrival of Galaxy Note 9, although its actual date of the announcement had been a puzzle to many smartphone geeks. Out of the box, the device will run Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung's Experience 9.0 on top. A price drop of Rs. 2000 has been announced today for the 32 GB storage variant of Galaxy A6 as stated by a Mumbai based retailer on Twitter.

So far, the FCC documents don't really reveal much details about the phablet, except that there are a lot of LTE bands and that it will have Bluetooth, NFC, and MST (for Samsung Pay of course), but those are expected.

A Bloomberg report earlier this month said the Note 9 will have an upgraded Qualcomm processor "for some markets". To recall, Galaxy Note 8 had a serial number SM-N950, for the Note 7 it was SM-N930, while the Note 5 was SM-N920.

Under the hood, the smartphone will run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset for the USA and South Korea markets. The handset also supports face unlock through the front camera. Apple is rumored to be launching three new iPhones - a more affordable 6.1-inch iPhone with LCD screen, an updated iPhone X, and an larger 6.5-inch "iPhone X Plus" all in September.
