Netflix receives more Emmy nominations than HBO

Netflix scored 112 Emmy Awards nominations on Thursday, more than any other television network and breaking a streak that HBO held onto for 17 years.

Netflix favorites GLOW and Kimmy Schmidt got nods for best comedy series while HBO mainstays Curb Your Enthusiasm and Silicon Valley were also nominated in the category.

Moss was nominated for best actress in a drama series for The Handmaid's Tale, with Strahovski's nomination coming in the supporting actress category.

On the down side, the balloting felt unduly generous to a disjointed second season of HBO's "Westworld", which ranked behind only "Game of Thrones" - back in the race after a year hiatus - in terms of total nominations, tied with "Saturday Night Live", and followed by "The Handmaid's Tale".

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times for freshman series on Emmy nominations day, depending whether they are in the drama or comedy side.

Donald Glover's "Atlanta" was the top comedy series nominee with 16 bids, poised to take advantage of the absence this time around of three-time victor "Veep".

It's Emmy nominations time, which means that about.000001 percent of the world is happy with all the choices while the rest of us are tossing chairs and frantically searching for the keys to the pitchfork closet. Legend's nomination for Jesus Christ, Superstar means he can add an Emmy to the Grammy, Oscar and Tony he already has on his shelf.

All three Lannister siblings were also recognized, with Lena Headey earning her fourth Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role as Cersei while her on-screen brothers Peter Dinklage (Tyrion) and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime) picked up Best Supporting Actor nods.

The Emmy awards will be handed out in Los Angeles on September 17 hosted by "Saturday Night Live" cast members Michael Che and Colin Jost.
