Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez 'on brink of Manchester City move'

Manchester City will complete the long-awaited signing of Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City this week in a £60million deal, Sky Sports News and the ever-reliable John Percy of Telegraph report.

Leicester will receive around £60m for the Algeria worldwide - some way short of their £80m asking price in January. The midfielder went on to submit a transfer request in a bid to force through a move, but that only earned him temporary banishment from the team.

The 27-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days, with all major aspects of the deal agreed between the two clubs.

Premier League champions City have agreed a £60 million ($79m) fee with the Foxes to sign the Algeria worldwide.

Mahrez and Slimani featured in Algeria's 3-0 loss to Portugal on June 7 while Amartey played in the Black Stars' 2-2 draw against Iceland on the same day.

With that in mind as City look to compete on multiple fronts again next season, adding the Leicester ace could perhaps make real sense for the defending champions to ensure that they remain at the top of the tree.

Mahrez, who signed from Le Havre for just £400,000 in 2014, has made 179 appearances for Leicester, scoring 48 times.

The Algerian worldwide returned to top form last season, scoring 13 goals and providing 13 assists in 41 appearances.
