LeBron James primed to cement G.O.A.T. claim at Lakers

According to ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, James' four-year contract is a sign that he is committed to building a contender in the Lakers.

"Only a handful of athletes in the world can have an effect on ticket demand like LeBron James can", StubHub GM Scott Jablonski told Reuters.

There was only one victor, though, and all that preparation paid off: So many of James's Lakers jerseys moved in just the final three hours between the announcement and midnight that the piece became one of the 10 best sales days for a jersey in Fanatics company history.

The Warriors have defeated James's Cavs in three of the last four NBA Finals including a 4-0 sweep last month.

With the Lakers signing LeBron James, there are certainly a lot of things to take in for what his impact on the franchise will be.

Nearly certainly, the Spurs will demand a much bigger return than the Cleveland Cavaliers received last summer, when they traded Kyrie Irving to Boston in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, Ante Zizic, Jae Crowder and the rights to the Brooklyn Nets' 2018 first-round draft pick.

Cousins joins a superforce, a four-time All-Star joining a team that had four All-Stars and has won three out of the past four championships.

McGee doesn't have quite the same history with James, but he did apparently get on the latter's bad side enough to have been blocked by James on Instagram. It might be a bit unfair to the Cavs, after all, you don't get all the way to the National Basketball Association finals because of one player, even if that player is as talented as James, but it's still fair to say that LeBron shouldered an enormous amount of the burden.

It was in the interest of all those involved for Ball to be as good as advertised.

While many assumed that Paul George was going to be coming to Los Angeles, he ended up staying with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Overall, it was a great job by both Magic and Pelinka to sell James on coming to Los Angeles.

The Lakers may also have sweetened the deal by having room under their salary cap to sign another maximum-salary free agent, rumoured to be the San Antonio Spurs' Kawhi Leonard. It remains to be seen what else the team is getting, but it should be very interesting to watch.
