Fortnite Season 5 Adds a New Squad Vehicle, Desert Biome & More

Season 5 is here!

The new season has also been preceded by Fortnite items, including Llamas and the Durr Burger sign appearing in real life locations around the world. It's not entirely clear, but it suggests that your Battle Pass tiers can now carry over to future seasons. There are also two brand new locations to explore: Paradise Palms and Lazy Links. Epic Games has also added desert outposts and a desert biome, viking ships and ancient statues onto the map, which may have fallen through the crack in the sky. However, the patch notes for the beginning of Season 5 are already live, revealing new locations, vehicles, and a host of new features coming to the game.

Fortnite Season 5 will be available to play today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. "Hop in an All Terrain Kart (ATK) with your squad and uncover all-new mysteries and locations that await". Grab your squad and cruise the map in style!

The roof acts as a bounce pad. Squads will also be able to jump the ATK over obstacles. This new vehicle can hold your whole team, and it's driven by working together as rear passengers to lean back and release at the same time for high jumps, and get a speed boost after drifting.

The biggest change pertains to the new Rifts that are scattered all throughout the "Fortnite" battle royale map. "Test your courage and step through a Rift", says Epic. However, the first storm circle will now only ever do 1 damage, no matter how long you're stuck in it.

Fortnite is now offline on all platforms while it's getting patched and updated ready to support Season 5. This should provide players with more information on why their point blank hits are only registering small damages. The Heavy Shotgun has received a change, too, as it will now fire 10 pellets instead of five.

"After firing a shotgun, another shotgun can not be fired for a very short time". To rectify this, players can earn XP for reviving their teammates in 50v50 and Teams of 20 matches.
