Barcelona have confirmed Paulinho is leaving the club to rejoin Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande on an initial one-season loan deal.

Paulinho scored 28 goals in 95 appearances for the Chinese outfit, while his solitary season at Barcelona saw him net nine times in 49 outings.

The loan deal is understood to contain an option to buy at the end of the campaign, reportedly for around £44m.

"The level of the Chinese Super League has improved year by year and the development prospects are very good", Paulinho told Evergrande's official website. "I also hope to give The Super League more excitement!"

Fabio Cannavaro's side resume their fight for an eighth title-in-a-row in fifth place, five points behind league leaders Shanghai SIPG.
