Trooping the Colour: Queen Elizabeth celebrates 92nd birthday

While Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her actual birthday on April 21, the Trooping of the Colour takes place on any Saturday of June.

Their two duchesses' husbands, Prince William, 35, and Prince Charles, 69, rode on horseback in the procession, which honours the Queen's official birthday.

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who celebrates his 97th birthday tomorrow, has retired from official public duties and is not expected to attend.

It was the first time Meghan had attended the ceremony following her marriage to Prince Harry on May 19.

Their public appearance together followed media speculation in recent weeks that they had been on honeymoon, although Kensington Palace, Harry's office, has not provided details of any trip.

One guardsman stood out: Charanpreet Singh Lall, a 22-year-old Sikh from Leicester, who wore a black turban.

Meghan fussed with her loose hair and seemed to be troubled by her Philip Treacy hat.

Queen Elizabeth was the first to arrive at Horse Guards Parade for her birthday parade.

Next to the Queen on the balcony were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton who were there with their young children Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, three. Over 1400 soldiers were in the ceremony, a tradition originating from the preparations for battle where the Regimental Colour or flag is "trooped" down the ranks of the soldiers so they can see them.

QE2 and her crew busted out their best royal waves for the festivities, which included a Royal Air Force flyover, and a carriage parade of the whole family.

The Queen soon made her entrance onto Horse Guards in an Ascot Landau after making her journey from her famous London home Buckingham Palace. Meghan's already looking fully at ease. laughing and smiling with her father-in-law and Kate. Such was the case during Meghan and Harry's return to Buckingham Palace, when she could be seen trying to keep her hair in some semblance of order.

"I'm quite proud and I know that a lot of other people are proud of me as well", he said.
