First Bond girl Eunice Gayson has died aged 90

Her death was announced by Bond producer Barbara Broccoli on the official film Twitter account: "We are so sad to learn that Eunice Gayson, our very first "Bond girl" who played Sylvia Trench in Dr. No and From Russia With Love has passed away".

Eunice Gayson, the first ever James Bond girl, died on Friday, June 8. "Sylvia Trench. I admire your luck Mr...?"

Eunice portrayed Sylvia Trench along with Sean Connery in the movie that began the massively successful 007 movies. On the actresses Twitter page, her family wrote that she was an extraordinary person who always had a tremendous impression on the people she met.

He said: "I admire your courage, Miss, er.?"

Gayson had originally been cast as Miss Moneypenny before the producers chose to replace her with Lois Maxwell and recast Gayson as a femme fatale character.

"Bond, James Bond", Connery replies. "We went back on set and he said the name "Bond, James Bond" in a attractive way".


Trench is the only Bond girl to feature in two films. "No" and reprised the role in 1964's "From Russia With Love".

Gayson was originally to be cast as Miss Moneypenny, but the part went to Lois Maxwell instead.

Gayson was born in Croydon on 17 March 1928, and was the first female to appear on screen with Connery in the first Bond film, 1962's Dr No.

Following her stint in the James Bond movies, she appeared in The Revenge Of Frankenstein, as well as The Avengers and The Saint.

Her character was due to be recurring in the series, but she was axed by 'Goldfinger' director Guy Hamilton.
