Al Pacino Joins Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

If you thought we might make it through today without yet another casting announcement regarding Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (the third in as many days!), you were sorely mistaken and, quite frankly, should feel embarrassed.

A story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The movie is said to be similar to a "Pulp Fiction-like tapestry" that covers a group of characters during that summer.

The legendary actor, 78, known for his roles in the Godfather and Scent of a Woman, which bagged him an Oscar, will play Marvin Shwarz, Leo's character's agent in the film. Both are struggling in the new Hollywood, but Dalton has a famous neighbour, the actress Sharon Tate (portrayed by Robbie). DiCaprio stars as, Rick Dalton, a former TV star, alongside Pitt, who will play his longtime stunt double, Cliff Booth.

The ensemble cast also will feature Dakota Fanning as Squeaky Fromme, Damian Lewis as Steve McQueen, Emile Hirsch as Jay Sebring, Clifton Collins as Ernesto The Mexican Vaquero, Keith Jefferson as Land Pirate Keith and Nicholas Hammond as director Sam Wanamaker.

Pacino most recently starred in HBO's film Paterno, and he just wrapped Martin Scorsese's long-gestating crime drama The Irishman.

Tarantino wrote and will also produce "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood", which is set to release in 2019. Tate was one of four victims who were brutally murdered by members of the Manson Family on August 9, 1969, which rocked Hollywood to its core.

The film, which already boasts of big names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, is based on the murder of actor Sharon Tate and three others at the hands of the Manson family cult.
