A few strong storms possible (again) in Alabama Tuesday

A few strong storms possible (again) in Alabama Tuesday

The big weather story is the break from the extreme heat we've had the past couple days both today and tomorrow.

Rain and storms are moving in just to the north and south of Hampton Roads. Mostly cloudy skies, with maybe a bit of afternoon brightening, hold back temperatures as highs reach the mid-70s to low 80s with high humidity. Otherwise, hot and humid with highs in the mid-90s and the Heat Index over 100°. Gusty winds, hail, vivid lightning and very heavy rain are the main threats. In fact our in house computer model doesn't even have rain at all tonight while other computer models keep at least a chance.

Increasing clouds along with increasing temperatures will also come increasing chances for rain and thunderstorms this afternoon, evening and overnight. Then by Friday, another front gets close and will increase our rain chances for Friday and Saturday before pushing offshore for the weekend. A steady wind from the east socks us in with clouds as highs struggle to the upper 60s to near 70. Overnight, showers should dissipate with lows in the mid to upper 60's.

WEDNESDAY | Scattered storm chances, partly cloudy.

Sun: High: 92 Low: 74 Partly cloudy; late night storms possible.

Spotty showers and thunderstorms will linger through the evening hours.
