You may expect some time travelers at Stephen Hawking's memorial service

A decade later, he famously threw a party for time travellers and sent the invitation, which included the date and coordinates of the party, only after it was over.

A blogger who was among the first to realize the weird birth dates range, IanVisits, recalled Stephen Hawking organized a party for time travelers, to see if anyone would show up if he would spread the invitations after the party.

"We can not exclude the possibility of time travel as it has not been disproven to our satisfaction", a spokesman for the Stephen Hawking Foundation told the BBC.

Renowned physicist Stephen Hawking, who passed away in March, is set to be interred in Westminster Abbey in June.

And it appears that the organisers of his memorial service are not excluding anyone, even those born in the future.

Westminster Abbey will also be open to the public free of charge after the service so people can pay their respects at his grave.

Within 24 hours of the opening of the ballot for the thanksgiving service, to be held on 15 June, about 12,000 people from more than 50 countries had applied for tickets.

While he didn't really believe that we'll ever be able to master backwards time travel (as oppose to the relatively easy feat of forward time travel), he did once host a party for time travellers.

The ballot for tickets to his memorial service closes at midnight on 15 May. "Anything is possible until proven otherwise", said one representative of the Stephen Hawking Foundation.

'So far we have had applications from all round the world, and we do mean round - there are no flat-Earthers here'. To test the theory he threw a champagne party, complete with Krug and hors d'oeuvres, in 2009.

"Rapid space-travel, or travel back in time, can't be ruled out, according to our present understanding", Hawking said during a 1999 lecture entitled "Space and Time Warps", cautioning however against the "great logical problems" such a feat might engender".

However, some claim that the this is not a time travel experiment rather a programming error that the website is accepting registration from people born two decades from now.

Commenting on having an "extraordinary" time working in the field of cosmology, he said he was happy to have made a contribution "to our understanding of black holes and the origin of the universe".
