Woman Mauled To Death By Pack Of Small Dogs, Police Investigating

They weighed no more than 40 pounds each and reached just up to one's knees, but all together, a pack of seven dachshunds proved a deadly force in Oklahoma.

The woman, Tracy Garcia, 52, died from her injuries after being attacked by a neighbor's seven dogs Thursday evening, KTEN News reported.

Police shot dead one of the dogs when they arrived at the scene after it tried to attack them, with authorities confirming the animals belonged to the victim's neighbour. The other six dogs were taken to a veterinary hospital, where they were euthanized at the owner's request.

"This is a bad situation, a very unfortunate situation", Bryant said.

They were all described as dachshund-terrier or dachshund-border collie mixes.

'Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victims.

Six of the dogs were about a year old, with the other possibly being the mother of the group, according to The Daily Ardmoreite in Oklahoma.

"Unfortunately, yes, we had to shoot one dog", said Bryant.

Dinwiddie said all seven of the dogs were heavily infested with fleas and ticks, and it was clear that they had been living in wildlife for some time. "This is just a bad deal all the way around".

Ardmore Animal Shelter's euthanasia technician Amanda Dinwiddie told local media: "A predominant breed in these dogs is definitely standard dachshund".

Police have not arrested anyone yet but continue to investigate. The DA will then review the documents to determine if the dogs' owner will face charges.
