GSC announces STALKER 2 for the second time

A few moments ago, GSC Game World announced on its official site that they are developing Stalker 2, a title that had a previous phase of creation more than 7 years ago and was canceled in 2012.

There's not an terrible lot to go on right now, although that probably isn't a surprise considering STALKER 2 is apparently targeting a 2021 launch window.

If you are a fan of survival horror and first person shooters, we highly recommend you check out this franchise and keep an eye on the further development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2!

In response to the news, Epic Games employee and SteamSpy creator Sergey Galyonkin tweeted "guesss the engine", which suggests S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will use Epic's Unreal Engine 4. Four years later GSC was back, announcing a new RTS game called Cossacks 3, and ever since the studio has been silent. Ultimately, we will more than likely learn more about the second game straight from the horse's mouth sometime soon. It was rumoured that the studio would close (it did), that the game wouldn't be released (it wasn't), and that Ukrainian government intervention may have been the culprit (who knows).
