Fortnite Solo Showdown: Everything You Need to Know

Fortnite Battle Royale is introducing a new limited time mode (LTM) that's much more competitive than previous ones: Solo Showdown. They feel that a competitive mode is in the pipeline over at Epic Games. Not bad! But it's not exactly free money, because you will have to put in some decent hours to complete 50 matches in under five days. It's just that you're being tracked for the first 50 matches you play within Solo Showdown to see where you stand. Under Playlists, you'll even find past limited time modes such as 50 vs 50, Solid Gold and so on. Unlike other LTMs, Solo Showdown will not change core gameplay of the current Solo mode.

When it comes to the scoring system, finishing first place within a match will award you 100 points while finishing 20th place within a match will award you 50 points.

In order to qualify, you'll need to play 50 Solo Showdown matches.

When the new limited time mode ends on Monday, the top 100 players with the highest score in Solo Showdown will receive a V-Buck prize from developer Epic Games.

The new mode plays just like any other standard solo match, 100 players drop onto their location of choice in the map, gather supplies, kill everyone else while trying not to get killed themselves, rinse and repeat until they're either dead or the only one left standing.

Epic announced that the objective of launching this mode is just the first step in helping it learn "how to build great events for all types of players".

If you're a frequent window shopper of the Fortnite in-game store, you'll know that those V-Bucks will go a long way in customizing characters with skins, emotes, back blings and more. 2nd to 4th place yields 25,000 of the in-game currency, while 5th to 50th get 13,500.
