Emilia Clarke Promises Unexpected Ending for Game of Thrones

'It was my first job and I was not discriminated against because I was a woman, in my paycheck'.

"So I think it's mainly in the beginning, just be aware of that and going, 'Can you just check?"

Speaking in Cannes where she was promoting the latest episode in the Star Wars franchise, Clarke said: "It's really hard because this is a problem that has been around forever so changing it overnight is impossible".

Game of Thrones actor Emilia Clarke has never shied away to raise her voice against anything that irks her, be it on screen or off.

In addition to the film, Clarke is in the midst of filming the final episodes of "Game of Thrones", a career-defining project for the young actress who became loved for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO series.

For Clarke who grew up in London in an "incredibly equal" household where her marketing executive mother "was the one who brought back the bacon", it was a shock.

Clarke was in Cannes to promote "Solo: A Star Wars Story", in which she plays Qi'ra opposite Alden Ehrenreich 's Han Solo. "Are you telling me there's another option, that there's a weak option?" she said.

The English actress explained why the usage irked her.

Variety quotes her saying: 'You start to dig deep and see where it is, rife in the industry.

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke hates the phrase "strong women" characters and believes it is "sexist".

Claire previously revealed how the gender pay gap "opened her eyes" and says the ordeal has stopped her from being "naive" about her pay. 'That's exciting, but it's sad and scary all at the same time, ' she said. "This has been a problem that has been around forever, so we can't solve it overnight". "Take the strong out of it. Find another adjective, dammit!"

The language used to describe female roles is another area that needs revision, according to Clarke, who seems to have had enough of being asked about portraying "strong women" in her films.
