A dog in Arizona has shown he is not only man's best friend but also dog's best friend after helping rescue his canine pal who was in danger drowning in a swimming pool earlier this month.

"Remus may be a insane pup but he's got a heart of gold", Becerra said. "Smokey can swim just not well", Laurie Becerra wrote on Facebook.

The two friends, Remus and Smokey, were out in the family's backyard in Mesa, Arizona when suddenly, Smokey fell into the family pool.

"When we saw the footage, we were amazed and our hearts were filled with joy, said "Dodo" a friend of Bezerra, who sent the video to Reddit".

After a few unsuccessful attempts, Remus jumps in after Smokey and uses his body to push Smokey out of the water.

Luckily for Smokey, Remus was there to help. "She says he's a certified lifeguard now".

The footage showed Smokey having difficulty getting back out of the pool, with Remus on the side looking as if he was trying to direct him how to get up.
