Spencer, a sophomore from Leawood, Kan., shot an 8-under-par 208 (69-69-70), his fourth top five finish of the season.

A year after winning the AAAA title with a 14-under 130 that set a state championship record across all classifications, Myrtle Beach's Holden Grigg finished fourth individually at 3-over 147, three strokes behind medalist Brandon Masters of Wren.

Junior Braden Bailey posted a final round of even-par 72, and just like in Tuesday's second round, he birdied the 16 and 18 holes to get back to even-par.

After a 3-over 74 on the last day, senior Kristoffer Ventura finished 2-over 215 at T-13.

The Cowboys qualified for their 71st NCAA Championship in program history.

The Baylor Bears advanced out of the Bryan Regional by shooting 857 (-7) and finishing third.

Stanford shot a final-round best 277, but were edged by Kansas 844-845 on Wednesday at The Reserve at Spanos Park. Iowa State rounded out the top-three in third, posting a 17-under par 847.


Baylor's 54 birdies were third-most in the field, and the Bears' 168 pars tied for fifth most. Gavin and Eric Dugas lead the way at 3-over par with just a few holes to play. Obviously, we shot the same score [as yesterday] and the difference is we didn't finish as well today and not all five guys were right around par. The finish marked his eighth top 10 of the season.

Teams from UVa, Virginia Tech and Radford have received Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for having an Academic Progress Rate score that was among the top 10 percent of Division I squads in their respective sports.

Next up, the Aggies venture to Stillwater, Okla., for the 2018 NCAA Championships. Myhre ends his Bison career ranked seventh in program history with a 73.56 scoring average in 91 rounds.

"Tanner is a great young man, and he is obviously a very good player", said A-State head coach Mike Hagen.

Closing strong has been a staple for IL in recent years and the lack there of is something head coach Mike Small says they'll have to work on moving forward, but that wasn't his main focus following the round.

"We has beaten Vanderbilt earlier in the day and it was hard to come back and play an emotional match with Arkansas, who we have sort of been battling all year", Potter said.
