The rain and freezing rain will come later. There will be pockets of rain, freezing rain and sleet throughout southern New England, the weather service says, bringing along some icing.

The advisory is also in effect for Tompkins, Madison, Chenango, and Onondaga counties.

A similar winter weather advisory was issued early this morning for counties along the advisory encompasses the Lake Ontario shoreline, Tug Hill and the Adirondacks from Saturday morning to Sunday morning.

Sunday night is expected to have near-freezing temperatures and an 80 percent chance of precipitation, with the possibility of mixed freezing rain between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m.

Freezing rain is expected with wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour through the evening.

Sleet accumulation of less than an inch Saturday night and less than half an inch Sunday are expected.

"Dangerous winter driving conditions are expected on untreated roads Saturday and Sunday".
