Shania Twain Apologises Lightning-Quick For Her "Awkward" Trump Comments

Shania Twain Apologises Lightning-Quick For Her

Country star, Canadian citizen and Swiss resident Shania Twain did not vote in the 2016 USA presidential election, but she has indicated that she would have voted for Donald Trump if she had the opportunity to do so. "Do you want straight or polite?"

After the nearly inevitable backlash - I mean, why would you even talk about voting Trump if you're not a United States citizen - the star walked back her comments, clarifying in a series of tweets that she does not "hold any common moral beliefs with the current President".

When asked by the Guardian, Twain - who is Canadian and thus not able to vote - unequivocally stated she'd have followed her conservative ideals and voted for Trump. Not that you shouldn't be able to have both.

She went on to say that if she were voting she didn't want "bullsh*t".

The That Don't Impress Me Much hitmaker continued by explaining that she recognizes the sociopolitical climate and that her core values have been centered around being inclusive.

Interesting that Twain claims that Trump "seems honest", when many outlets have reported on the numerous lies he has told the American people on a daily basis.

In 2017, Shania released Now, her first album in 15 years. During the episode, drag queen Kameron Michaels thanked Twain for being an inspiration to her as a child. "I hated her, so that's the best word to use when you hate somebody". "Ummm, sorry, but being an offensive loudmouth doesn't make you honest".

"I don't have anything against or for any particular person or point of view on politics", she said in an interview with CMT News in 2007.

She concluded, "Gratitude is important".
