Sega Ages is coming to the Switch

Now we just need to wait for E3 to roll around so Sega can provide us with a release schedule, as well as when Saturn, Dreamcast and arcade games will start rolling in.

The first batch of Sega Ages titles will be available this summer and consists of five classic games: the Master System versions of Phantasy Star and Alex Kidd in Miracle World; the Genesis versions of Sonic the Hedgehog and Thunder Force IV; and the arcade version of Gain Ground.

The release of classic titles on de Switch, which other publishers like Capcom and SNK have also been doing, does, however, suggest that Nintendo hasn't got any immediate plans for a Virtual Console service on the Switch. Developed by M2, the Japanese developer known for high-quality ports of classic games such as the popular Sega 3D Classics series on the Nintendo 3DS, Sega Ages aims to bring prominent titles from Sega's legacy catalog to fans around the world. SEGA AGES will launch in North America, Europe, and Japan.

A senior producer behind the project has admitted that, if the project is to expand beyond the initial 15 games, it could likely include games from two of Sega's most noteworthy consoles - the Sega Dreamcast and Sega Saturn. We certainly will, but we want to hear your take on this revived retro series. Sega Ages will continue for a few years, so we hope you will support us. These will be released on the Switch eShop individually.
