Ramaphosa vows to go visit Marikana widows at Madikizela-Mandela's funeral

At the funeral service held on 14 April at Orlando stadium, Malema visibly tore into the ANC leaders whom he said they claimed Winnie was now theirs yet they disowned her.

Police are reportedly investigating an alleged scuffle between Police VIP protection unit and EFF members Julius Malema and fellow Member of Parliament Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.

"You [Madikizela-Mandela] trusted that your mission of putting the country first was embraced by an organisation that you loved; but Mama, you did not know that your organisation had been rendered incapable of loving you back", said Malema.

"As we enter the era of intensified struggles for economic emancipation, we are inspired by Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela who not only embodied the ideals of economic justice for all, but also fought with uncompromising resilience for the aspirations of the downtrodden masses of our people".

Malema allegedly told a soldier who tried to stop him that "no white man can stop me".

Ramaphosa said he would propose to the ANC's national executive committee that Madikizela-Mandela be given the ANC's highest honour of Isitwalandwe/Seaparankwe, which is given to those who have made an outstanding contribution and sacrifice to the liberation struggle. What must we tell them? "Give us a sign Mama".

"She combined rare multiple roles of a woman: a mother, grandmother, freedom fighter, party organiser and a parliamentarian among others".

"The pain inflicted on her lives on in us".

Malema called for the Cape Town International Airport to be named after Madikizela Mandela.

Madikizela-Mandela's own daughters paid tribute to their mother, with ambassador HRH Zenani Dlamini defending the legacy of a "woman who dared one of the most evil and powerful regimes of the past century and triumphed". "The UDF cabal that distanced itself from you is here crying crocodile tears after disowning you at a critical moment hoping the regime will finish you off".
