MLA Kuldeep Sengar's woman aide in 4-day CBI custody

With the victim recording a fresh statement before the Magistrate in Lucknow on Monday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is considering to withdraw the POCSO Act invoked against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case.

CBI officials told TOI that Atul Singh Sengar, younger brother of accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, would also be taken into custody and interrogated about the whole episode.

Meanwhile, Unnao rape victim was taken to Lohia hospital in Lucknow for medical and legal examination. The action came barely hours the Allahabad High Court ordered the probe agency to arrest Sengar, stating that he was influencing the "law-and-order machinery".

RASSANA: The family members of Sanji Ram, the alleged conspirator of the Kathua rape and murder case, have said that he should be hanged publicly but only if a CBI probe into the case finds him guilty.

Walking out of the court, the girl expressed contentment over the progress of investigations into the case saying that she was now hopeful that justice would be meted out to her.

However, her uncle accused the Unnao administration of conniving to save the legislator. Since the murder charge was added later by the state police, it does not reflect in the CBI FIR.

A case was then registered on the complaint of Assistant Commissioner, Customs (Marine and Preventive), Mumbai who stated that private individuals were offering him a bribe, the official said.

In a statement, the agency said it had lodged three separate first information reports in connection with the Unnao rape, and the death of the rape survivor's 55-year-old father, allegedly after he was assaulted by the MLA's brother.

"Be that as it may, we do not intend to enter into this sphere (transfer of case to CBI) at this stage", the bench said, noting the submission of the victim's father.

The victim tried to set herself ablaze outside Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence on last Sunday, claiming inaction in the rape case that took place in 2017. The victim's father died on April 9 due to multiple injuries.
