Lobbyist claims Yeti iced out NRA, sparking calls for boycotts

"Further, the NRA-ILA stated in that same public communication that "[YETI has] declined to continue helping America's young people enjoy outdoor recreational activities". The NRA Foundation says the company only said it will no longer sell products to the foundation.

YETI, which is based in Austin, is well-known nationally as a maker of coolers and thermal mugs and has turned its brand into a almost half-billion dollar company since launching in 2006. Companies began cutting ties with the NRA shortly after the February 14 massacre, sparking rounds of boycotts from NRA supporters in response. But being that YETI claims, "the facts directly contradict [the NRA's] statement", it's likely they will. The company also declined to specify whether the NRA will still benefit from discounts on Yeti products.

YETI told the NRA the brand no longer wishes to do business with the organization, demonstrating that YETI does not support the Second Amendment. That's according to a letter from a prominent NRA lobbyist claiming the Texas-based brand has ceased doing business with the NRA Foundation, the gun lobby's charitable arm. "In this day and age, information is power".

What are your thoughts on Yeti's move? "We have been devoted to and will continue to directly support causes tied to our passion for the outdoors, including by working with many organizations that promote conservation and management of wildlife resources and habitat restoration".

At Florida's Aegis Tactical, "Joe" mentioned Yeti cutting ties with the NRA foundation then placed a Yeti tumbler in a shooting lane and fired shot after shot into it.

YETI responded to the letter by tweeting out a statement Monday that read in part, "A few weeks ago YETI notified the NRA Foundation, as well as a number of other organization, that we were eliminating a group of outdated discounting programs". When it notified the NRA Foundation, as well as other organizations, the company said it offered them an "alternative customization program".
