John Oliver Bought Russell Crowe's Jockstrap for Alaska's Last Blockbuster Video

Oliver's purchases from Crowe's auction exceed $10,000, but he brought out his wallet for a good cause: To help save one of America's last remaining Blockbuster video stores.

"I can think of no more flawless place for them to reside than an Alaskan Blockbuster store", Oliver told the audience. Clearly, the budget over at "Last Week Tonight" could use an audit.

As you may have already heard, Russell Crowe generated quite a few headlines recently when he held a 'divorce auction' to raise money for just that - his divorce from wife Danielle Spencer. The winnings also included the set chairs of Crowe (and, for some reason, Denzel Washington) from their time on American Gangster, as well as the vest Crowe wore in the film Les Miserables, and a hood Crowe wore in Robin Hood. Yes, that really happened - and it was only the start of their late-night spending spree.

Oliver kicked off the fun reveal explaining that a few Blockbusters had survived in Alaska long after they had disappeared in the continental US because of slower streaming services and more expensive rates in that state, but they had slowly died off.

"To the manager of the only remaining Blockbuster in Alaska, all of this shit is yours", Oliver said after giving viewers a guided tour of the Crowe items.

He made a call out on the show directed at the Debarr Blockbuster's management, giving them 48 hours to get in touch with Last Week Tonight producers, in order to claim the Crowe merchandise.
