Hard fall forces Warriors' Patrick McCaw to leave game on stretcher

McCaw inadvertently collided with Vince Carter, which threw off McCaw's landing - leading to an awkward and risky fall.

He remained down for several minutes while being attended to by medical personnel.

The Warriors announced late Saturday that a chest X-ray and CT scan came back clear and that McCaw will undergo an MRI. "I play this game because I love it and enjoy it, not to see young guys get hurt". He was taken to UC Davis for further medical evaluation. It's hard to watch so scroll past if you don't want to subject yourself to it. McCaw, who appeared to be trying to dunk, did a scissor kick in the air over Carter's right shoulder before landing hard on his troublesome back.

After McCaw was taken off the court, players from both teams huddled in prayer. "I don't like to see him sitting there in pain saying he can't feel his lower half".

In discussing the play, Carter, who was given a flagrant foul 1, said he only remembered McCaw's "foot hitting the side of my leg". "Regardless of how it happened, accident, all of the things that they were telling me, you still want to see him OK".

Kerr swore and was visibly frustrated and hollered "He knows better", referring to Carter, before going out to the court to check on his second-year guard.

Warriors chief operating officer Rick Welts was named to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, part of a 13-person class that also includes player development consultant and former MVP Steve Nash.

"I know Vince's spirit and his heart and I don't believe it was intentional at all", said Warriors forward Kevin Durant. "Looked like he was caught in the middle of wanting to get in the play and wanting to move out the way, and Pat was coming in so fast and it was just an unfortuante play". "I just wanted to tell them-I'm not really big into all of that. Nobody in our locker room thinks Vince did that on goal".

Buddy Hield led the Kings (24-53) with 19 points.
