Boomerang and 3D drawing camera modes are coming to Facebook Stories

AR drawing allows you to draw 3D images with AR on the real world. Any photos or videos you add to your Stories will appear on both Facebook and Messenger, and will be shared with the same audience across both.

"3D drawing" is the name Facebook Camera Product Manager John Barnett calls it, and first spotted by Matt Navarra, will bring out your creative ability in Stories.

Facebook's new feature allows users to add 3D drawings to videos.

The second new feature announced for Facebook Stories - Boomerang - is an evolution of the GIF-creating feature available for a while. Whatever you draw also stays static and does not disappear even if you move the camera away.

Boomerang is smoother in this regard, and so it is now coming to the Facebook Camera to replace the social media's own looping tech. Further, the reports from web suggest that the technology behind the AR feature can also sense corners and objects in space, and can also detect walls and tables.

The feature is only available with a gradient brush as it rolls out over the next few weeks, but Facebook plans to add more brushes.

Now, the Stories section on Facebook is getting boost as the giant is going to add AR doodles and Boomerange GIFs to the stories. It will not work, for example, in low light conditions and if the software is unsure of the object. Facebook Stories has not been able to duplicate that success yet, but the company likely hopes that integrating the established Boomerang brand will change this. "Now, it's quicker and easier to capture and share moments as they happen with the people you care about most!" .

For those unfamiliar, Facebook Stories allows you to post pictures and videos for other users to view. Now there is also a new AR feature to help in the same.

Facebook has been pushing its Stories tool aggressively, despite a muted response from users.
