YouTube Brings "Dark Mode" To iOS App

YouTube Brings

Youtube is going dark on iOS and Android with a new update.

Google announced that a dark mode for YouTube is finally coming to Android and iOS.

YouTube is finally giving its mobile app a dark theme, almost a year after the Google subsidiary introduced the night-friendly mode on desktop. For months now we've been expecting a new dark mode to go live for YouTube, and while Google's not quite ready to push the button on dark-mode YouTube for Android, the feature is currently heading out to iOS users. The dark theme as well accentuates the colours in the app, drawing the true colours of the videos out.

To access the new theme, tap your account icon on the top right, select "Settings", then select "Dark Theme". Though the feature started as part of a limited test in April 2017, Dark Mode later rolled out to all YouTube users in May along with the site's Material Design visual overhaul.

The point of Dark Mode is to make videos easier to watch on YouTube by inverting the main colors, turning white to black and vice versa.

Dark themes on mobile have become more popular in recent times with services like Twitter, Reddit and Telegram embracing the dark theme.
