Sammy Watkins, Chiefs Agree To Three-year Contract

Patrick Mahomes is going to have plenty of weapons in his arsenal in his first season as starting quarterback with the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly reached an agreement with one of the top free agent wide receivers on the market.

Adam Schefter of ESPN first reported the news, with NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reporting the deal is expected to be worth a whopping $48 million over three years.

Watkins, 24, spent last season with the Los Angeles Rams, catching 39 passes for 593 yards and eight touchdowns in 15 regular-season games.

He had 125 catches for 2,029 yards and 15 touchdowns in his first two National Football League seasons, but he still didn't live up to expectations with the Bills after Buffalo packaged two first-round picks to move up and make him the No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 draft. A quality route-runner, Robinson averaged 14.1 yards per catch in his three seasons before his knee injury, scoring 22 TDs in 42 games. Hitchens, who is listed at 6 feet 1 and 234 pounds, was a fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2014.

Free agency officially begins on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, but beginning at noon on Monday, teams can begin negotiating contracts with unrestricted free agents.
