Ready Player One Spotlights Batman in New Promo

Given SXSW's intersection of film and technology, Ready Player One would be hitting a key male demo for the pic, and an opportunity to generate excellent buzz before the pic's four-day Easter weekend opening on March 29.

Based on the novel by Ernest Cline and set in a near future where VR has taken over, Ready Player One follows Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), an avid gamer searching for an Easter egg left by legendary designer James Halliday (Mark Rylance) that will give the finds access to his enormous fortune.

Steven Spielberg and pop culture references galore may not be enough to propel Ready Player One to box office glory, as tracking now indicates that the ambitious sci-fi film will open to the tune of $35 million-plus, domestically. And in the hands of Steven Spielberg-inarguably one of our greatest directors-we know the film is going to be a special cinematic event for our attendees.
