Further details emerge about Tua Tagovailoa's hand injury

College Football Playoff hero Tua Tagovailoa suffered a thumb injury during practice on Tuesday, and according to Matt Zenitz of AL.com, the injury is believed to only be a sprain that could keep him out of action for a few days. I don't want to speculate on what the injury might be. So, we don't have decisions, we're not speculating on any decisions.

Alabama coach Nick Saban mentioned Tagovailoa's injury while naming the players who will miss all or parts of Alabama's spring practice sessions.

"It's two good players who can contribute to our team", Saban said Tuesday of the competition, "and we're going to give them an opportunity to do that". However, if the injury turns out to be more serious it could limit his time during the spring and ultimately cost him the job.

Saban also reported that outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings will be held out this spring as he continues to recover from a knee injury he suffered during the Allstate Sugar Bowl. "It got repaired", Saban said.

Saban added Smith only worked with the defensive backs during the individual coaching period and returned to working with the receivers during the non-individual portion of practice. Five defensive backs are gone from last season's group, who will step in? Not to mention, Butch Jones is now wearing crimson.

"He's an intern, an analyst, you know, I guess you can have several names for it", Saban said.

Minshew, who threw for 2,140 yards and 16 touchdowns in five starts last season, committed to Alabama on February 28.

Saban said Tuesday was the first time Jones was cleared by the NCAA to serve in that capacity.

Alabama's quarterback controversy is settled, at least for a few weeks.
