Former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg implies president 'may have done something wrong'

The attorneys pointed out that Nunberg, granted immunity by Mueller, can not take the fifth amendment and that no one possesses a right to ignore subpoenas without repercussions.

"They want me over at the grand jury. Doesn't work out well".

Here's CNN's Erin Burnett telling former Trump aide Sam Nunberg that she can smell alcohol on his breath.

Nunberg said in a series of interviews that he would ignore a grand jury subpoena from special counsel Robert Mueller, report Politico, the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Daily Beast and NBC News. Nunberg said in the MSNBC interview.

John Dean, a White House counsel to President Richard Nixon during Watergate, tweeted Monday that Nunberg can't flatly refuse to comply with a grand jury subpoena.

He also said he believed the only reason he was being asked to testify before the grand jury was to provide information that would be used against Mr Stone, a longtime Trump adviser, which he said he would not do.

Nunberg also claimed President Trump knew about his son Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with a Russian lawyer at Trump Tower before it happened.

"Because it is the talk out there - again, I know it's awkward - let me just give you the question so you can categorically answer", Burnett said.

The all-over-the-place nature of Nunberg's comments have prompted some to wonder whether he was using the media to pre-emptively discredit the Mueller probe, or trying to protect his mentor Roger Stone and colleague Steve Bannon, the former Breitbart executive who was famously burned by the White House over Michael Wolff's book 'Fire and Fury'. Why do the activities of Manafort well before his gaining employ by Trump pertain to investigation of collusion between the campaign and Russian Federation?

Another key focus of Mueller's inquiry: Nader's previously unreported presence at a January 2017 meeting in the Seychelles attended by Russian fund manager Kirill Dmitriev and Blackwater founder and informal Trump adviser Erik Prince.

"I think he definitely doesn't know that for sure because he's incorrect", Sanders said.

"I'm going to end up cooperating with them", he told the outlet. The subpoenas demanded all communications mentioning or including familiar Mueller targets, such as former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and former adviser Rick Gates, both under indictment, and well-known figures like former chief strategist Stephen Bannon, and former advisers Carter Page and Roger Stone, the latter of which was a close friend of Nunberg's.

Despite calling Trump an "idiot", Nunberg insisted to The Washington Post that he won the election without the help of the Russians because he "campaigned his ass off" and that there's "no one who hates him more than me". "He hasn't worked at the White House so I certainly can't speak to him or the lack of knowledge he clearly has", Sanders added. "As we've said many times before, there's been no collusion".

If Nunberg defies the subpoena, he could be held in jail for civil contempt.

He said he has already met with investigators from Mueller's team.

Then later in the same interview, Nunberg was asked if he thinks prosecutors "have something on the president".
