Browns Making 'Big Run' At Nate Solder Ahead Of Free Agency

"The Browns still don't know of Thomas' plans, and they don't know if they'll hear (Tuesday), sources told cleveland.com". A two-time Super Bowl champion, Solder has been responsible for protecting Tom Brady's blindside in New England.

The Browns' pursuit of Solder will undoubtedly make it hard for him to pass up their offer.

According to some reports, the Browns are trying to lure free agent left tackle Nate Solder away from the Patriots and bring him to the rebuilding process happening in Cleveland. He made the Pro Bowl 10 straight times and played 10,363 consecutive snaps before a triceps injury suffered October 22 in a game against the Titans ended his awesome iron-man streak.

The Cleveland Browns have gotten off to a spectacular start to the offseason following a couple of big-name trades.

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald reports that Solder prefers to stay with the Patriots, but is prepared to leave if New England's offer isn't competitive with the other offers he receives in free agency.

The 33-year-old Thomas has said several times that he planned to give the Browns a decision before the start of free agency, which began on Monday with the "legal tampering" period and picks up steam when teams can begin signing players at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The Browns have about $78 million in salary cap room available.

Solder has been pursued by numerous teams, including the Patriots in attempt to re-sign him.

The market is aggressive this year also, and former Panther's guard Andrew Norwell just got paid. He noted the Patriots will have stiff competition in signing Solder because Cleveland has "a ton of money to play with".
