Ballplayer released after domestic violence video released

A local news channel obtained graphic video that reportedly led to a former baseball prospect, Danry Vasquez, being released from team.

The affiliate reports both Vasquez and his girlfriend had been dating since their teens and came to the United States together from Venezuela when he was recruited by Major League Baseball.

'There is no choice but to sever the relationship, ' said manager Ross Peeples.

Danry Vasquez, then 24 was a minor league baseball player in Lancaster Barnstormers in Texas USA and was a prospect to join the Astros team but Vasquez was arrested on 4 August 2016, two days after the filmed incident.

The player was identified by the authorities as Danry Vásquez, 24, was a member of the Corpus Christi Hooks team, a Double-A team of the Houston Astros.

The video continues to show the woman being hit twice, then her hair is pulled.

In the video, which can be seen at the top of this page, Vasquez repeatedly strikes the woman and drags her down the stairs.

Vasquez signed a contract with a $1.2 million signing bonus with the Detroit Tigers when he was 16 years old before being traded to the Astros.

Before ten the same evening, Reynolds says they announced the release of Vasquez on a Facebook post.

The above video was recently released by the Corpus Christi Police Department, where Vasquez is shown walking down a back stairwell with his girlfriend.

Shortly after Vasquez was arrested and charged, he was released by the Houston Astros organization. The manager said in a statement that being made aware of the nature of the incident prompted the team to cut ties with Vasquez as the organization can not "condone or associate" with that type of behavior.

Because of that, Vasquez was ordered to attend anger management courses and has completed the terms of his probation.

"Neither I, nor the Barnstormers" organization as a whole, can condone or associate with that behavior'.

A month before the incident in the stadium stairwell, Vasquez charged the mound after being hit by a pitch during a game against the Frisco RoughRiders.
