Asus Zenfone 5 Max flaunts Snapdragon 660 on Geekbench

Asus Zenfone 5 Max flaunts Snapdragon 660 on Geekbench

The entire Asus ZenFone 4 series, launched with Android Nougat, were supposed to receive an update to Android Oreo in the second half of 2018. However, the company missed out on the Zenfone 5 Max, which could be an affordable version with a capacious battery for a long-lasting backup. However, now talks of a fourth device under this series is going on.

The Geekbench scorecard doesn't reveal much other meaningful information about the Zenfone 5 Max, but we bet more leaks are on the way to fill us in.

According to the Geekbench listing, the phone in question is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC with 4GB RAM.

Asus made a relatively early start on Android Oreo updates for both the ZenFone 3 and ZenFone 4 lineups, but weirdly enough, humbler members of the older family got priority over the Taiwanese company's main 2017 flagship model. It comes with Android 8.0 out of the box, 5.7-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, which means they are bringing the notch, 3/5mm jack and a Type-C port. A fingerprint scanner could be placed at the back of the phone, right below the camera module.

Given that the Snapdragon 600 SoC has been revealed by the benchmark database, we need to mention that this is the first time we might witness an Asus Zenfone Max smartphone making use of this processor. As per the Wi-Fi certification, the Asus ZenFone 5 Max will support dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n (2.4GHz, 5GHz) and LTE capabilities. There are two variants of the phone- one that runs on Snapdragon 425 and the other runs on Snapdragon 430.
