Vanessa Trump Sent to Hospital After Opening Letter With Suspicious White Powder

Vanessa Trump (40) opened the letter addressed to the president's son on Monday morning at their midtown Manhattan apartment. At this time, authorities do not know what the white powder is that was contained in the envelope that was opened by Donald Trump Jr's wife.

Trump's mother was also taken to hospital along with her daughter, and as for her husband, Trump Jr. was said to be on a red-eye back to the city to tend to his wife. In a report that will feel like déjà vu to anyone sentient in the weeks following 9/11, Trump is said to have opened a piece of mail that contained a white powder.

The Secret Service has said they are investigating the letter, and no further comments will be made.

Vanessa Trump, police said, said she was coughing and experiencing nausea, the Associated Press reported.

The New York City Fire Department told NBC News that there was no indication anyone suffered injuries.

We are investigating the case with law enforcement partners, The Secret Service confirmed in a statement.

Three people underwent a decontamination process from the hazmat units before being taken to a local area hospital for observation, the NYPD said.

Vanessa Trump, 40, was examined at a NY hospital on Monday (US time) as a precaution, before the substance was determined not to be hazardous.

"Thinking of @MrsVanessaTrump & wishing I was by her side today", she tweeted.

The letter was addressed to Donald Trump Jr.

Vanessa Trump thanked the NYPD, the Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Twitter for making sure she was safe.

Ivanka Trump too tweeted about the scare and said that no one deserved to be scared that way.

In 2016, white powder, which also proved harmless, was sent to the home of Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jnr's brother. Citing an ongoing investigation, however, Sanders said she could not comment further.
