THE PREDATOR And ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL Will Arrive Later Than Expected

Fox Studios announced updated release dates for four of its films including the new Shane Black The Predator movie and Robert Rodriguez's Alita: Battle Angel.

Variety reports Alita has been delayed for five months and will now be released on December 21 instead of July 20. That's going to put it up against Aquaman and the Transformers spinoff, Bumblebee, which is some serious competition for the manga adaptation. That will put The Predator up against the action film Alpha and the Mandy Moore thriller The Darkest Minds.

Alita: Battle Angel is set centuries into the future. Rosa Salazar plays an abandoned cyborg discovered in an Iron City scrapyard by cyber-doctor named Ido, played by Christoph Waltz. When Alita awakens she has no memory of who she is, nor does she have any recognition of the world she finds herself in. In order to protect the loved ones from her new life, she must unlock the secrets of her old life.

The first trailer for Alita: Battle Angel was released in December.

Black's film is the latest entry in the Predator franchise, pitting everyone's favorite alien trophy hunter against a new set of disposable humans. The film sees Predators invading a suburban city and meeting resistance from a group of war veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome.

The Predator cast includes Boyd Holbrook (Narcos, Logan), Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse), Trevante Rhodes (Moonlight), Keegan-Michael Key (Keanu, Key & Peele), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), Jacob Tremblay (Room), Yvonne Strahovski (Dexter), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Sterling K. Brown (The People vs. O.J. Simpson, This is Us) and Edward James Olmos (Battlestar Galactica, Blade Runner). Filming wrapped in June 2007. A teaser poster for the film was released in October. There are now no details on the movie. Let us know what you think in the comments section...
