Petition to scrap Snapchat redesign hits 1 million

It's a major departure from previous Snapchat designs, and was supposed to be easier for users to navigate, however, users are finding it more hard and cluttered.

The changes made by Snapchat had been meant to separate chats with friends from interactions from branded content that includes that of celebrities and influencers.

"Many 'new features" are useless or defeat the original purposes Snapchat has had for the past years.

The company rolled out a fundamental overhaul of its app last month that aimed to separate the "social from the media".

Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel wrote in a blog post that he believed blurring the two had contributed to the rise of fake news.

More than a million people have signed an online petition calling on Snapchat to undo a redesign to the app.

The update now sees users swipe left to see content and interactions with friends, and swipe right to see news and other public content.

The petition, posted on the change.org website, is one of several appealing to Snapchat to revert to its previous state.

Its update has been met with thousands of complaints, with many saying the app is now too hard to use.

But in a tweet, Snap advised against that.

"As expected, it will take time for our community to get used to the changes, but overall, we are pleased with the initial results". "People want to follow influencers because they really like them, whereas Snapchat just sees them as brands". Snapchat influencers will now be able to strike better deals with advertisers who are always keen to understand which audiences and locations they will reach through the partnerships.

Midha said, however, that he didn't think it likely Snapchat would reverse course. I think we can all agree that this was not much to go on.
