Donald Trump Jr's wife hospitalised after opening mail containing white powder

Donald Trump Jr.'s wife is thanking New York's police and fire departments, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Secret Service for their help after she opened an envelope containing white powder.

Trump's wife, Vanessa, was taken to a hospital on Monday after opening the envelope in her mother's Manhattan apartment. She then called 911.

The note, in an envelope postmarked in Boston, was delivered to the Upper East Side home of Donald Jr.'s mother-in-law at around 10 a.m. Monday, officials said.

Police said that an initial review found that the substance wasn't hazardous, and the Secret Service said it was investigating the incident. Out of caution, officials say investigators will conduct a thorough probe of the event. Vanessa Trump was sent to the hospital as a precautionary measure and was unharmed.

The letter had been addressed to Vanessa Trump's husband Donald Jr - the president's eldest child with ex-wife Ivana. The Associated Press reported that she was coughing and feeling nauseated. Eric looks smart. This is the reason why people hate you.

'You are an very bad, awful person.

Law-enforcement sources told the New York Post that the letter contained the harmless food product.

The disturbed mailer who sent a mystery white powder to President Trump's daughter-in-law added a chilling threat in an enclosed note.

The substance is believed to be cornstarch, sources have said. "Truly disgusting that certain individuals choose to express their opposing views with such disturbing behaviour".

Vanessa Trump, 40, wasn't hospitalized but was tested at the hospital out of an abundance of caution. The couple has five children, but it was unclear if any were home at the time of the incident.
