Anti-Pakistan, Pro-Pakistan Slogans Raised

The NC MLA from Sonawari, Akbar Lone, allegedly shouted 'Pakistan zindabad' in the J&K Assembly, which triggered the BJP members to seek his disqualification from the House.

While speaking to the media, NC leader Akbar Lone said, "I am a Muslim first".

The NC distanced itself from the sloganeering by party MLA Mohammad Akbar Lone which came even as the operation to flush out terrorists from the Sunjwan camp was underway.

Reports suggested that lawmakers associated with the BJP were raising slogans against Pakistan, accusing it of involvement in the Saturday morning attack on the Sunjuwan army camp in Jammu.

In wake of the terror attack at the Army headquarters at Jammu's Sunjwan, BJP MLAs chanted the anti-Pakistan slogans in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.

Speaker Kavinder Gupta had earlier alleged the presence of Rohingyas led to attack on an army camp in Sunjwan area of Jammu, today.

However, the MLAs of NC, PDP and a section of Congress legislators took exceptions to Gupta's remark, alleging that he is targeting the Muslim refugees for political gains.

The situation in the House then became more chaotic and Speaker Kavinder Gupta adjourned the House at 10:15 am.

NC spokesman, Junaid Mattoo took Twitter to control the damage by posting, "Hon'ble @JKNC_ President has said the NC MLA should not forget that he belongs to a party that rejected the two-nation theory and he should also remember the oath he swears in the name of God at the beginning of his term".

Meanwhile, former chief minister Omar Abdullah said the focus should remain on the growing insecurity in J&K, "rather than diverting issues".

"We need to focus on the unfortunate developments in #SunjwanArmyCamp and not get distracted by misplaced slogans", Omar said in another tweet.
