Adam Rippon & Eric Radford Won Medals At 2018 Winter Olympics

Canada's Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford came in first place in the free skate program in the Olympics figure skating team event, with a little help from Adele.

When he was selected to go to the games last month, Rippon became the first openly gay USA athlete to be selected to participate in the Winter Olympics.

"This is wonderful! I literally feel like I might explode with pride", Radford wrote on Twitter after winning the gold.

In 2014 Radford came out and in that same year won the silver medal at the Winter Olympics in Russian Federation.

Both Radford and Rippon aren't done performing yet.

He later tweeted a photo with Rippon saying: "So proud that @Adaripp and I get to wear these medals and show the world what we can do".

Radford was part of the Canadian figure skating team's win in the mixed team final. Gus wrote on Instagram. Rippon and Kenworthy have been outspoken in their criticism of Vice President Mike Pence's role in the Winter Olympics. The Canadian Olympic swimmer came out as gay in 1998 after he retired from the sport, and even then, he faced backlash and lost business.

NBC commentator Johnny Weir announced that Rippon was the first openly gay athlete from the United States to medal at the Winter Games, according to NBC.

"If he's okay with what's being said about people and Americans and foreigners and about different countries that are being called 'shitholes, ' I think he should really go to church". "I don't need all that extra added stress".
