If the Knights faced College Football Playoff champion Alabama on the field, however, they would be three-touchdown underdogs according to a pair of sports betting experts.

This season, the Auburn Tigers beat both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide, who are playing in the last game of the College Football Playoff.

Fans of the UCF Knights paid to put up a billboard in Alabama congratulating the Crimson Tide on their national championship victory and challenging the team to a home-and-home series.

The Knights beat Auburn in the Peach Bowl. By having a flawless season and beating the only team that defeated both Alabama and Georgia this season, the UCF Knights are clearly champions.

The rankings rewarded UCF for being the only undefeated team in the country, and some of UCF's wins rank out better in the Colley Matrix than they do in other systems. UCF claims it is the true national champion because it's the only undefeated team on the FBS level.

Thirty-seven fans of the team raised $1,665 on a GoFundMe page to pay for a digital billboard ad that reads, "Congratulations Alabama". Florida Gov. Rick Scott also proclaimed the team champs, saying that they would be recognized as such, at least within the state of Florida. The Knights defeated the Crimson Tide 40-38 back in 2000 in the first and only meeting between the two schools.
