Snow on the way for Monday!

Snow on the way for Monday!

While much of the precipitation associated with the low is expected to stay offshore, it's possible some rain and snow showers could sneak into parts of southern New Jersey and perhaps as far north as Philadelphia and Trenton late in the day. Expect patchy fog during the morning hours then cloudy to mostly cloudy skies by the afternoon.

Today (Monday): We're in between two weather systems but each is close enough to sock us in with considerable cloud cover.

A Met Office spokesman said Thursday night will see temperatures drop to -5 or -6, across the majority of the United Kingdom and could drop to as low as -9 in parts of Scotland. A few snow flurries will be possible this evening generally for areas along and east of Highway 75. A shower may linger early south and east of the Delaware Valley, but all-in-all, many of us will be dry overnight. We can't even rule out some showers, mainly in the afternoon, especially southeast of Washington.

SNOW POTENTIAL INDEXA daily assessment of the potential for at least one inch of snow in the next week, on a 0-10 scale. Lows will be a little colder as temperatures drop into the upper 20's and low 30's.

The rain showers are now gone and skies have cleared out. Sunday was a bit cooler, but the high of 40 and low of 28 at O'Hare International Airport was still 10 degrees above normal. We will though be keeping an eye on the transition between rain and snow on Wednesday. It's still a little tricky to pinpoint where exactly some of the heavier snow will setup but it seems western zones may stand the best chance to see the highest amounts.

Highs Friday through Sunday are likely to average almost 30 degrees colder than this past weekend. Stay tuned for updates as the week progresses. Both days should have plenty of sunshine.

Temperatures are expected to fall to around freezing by midnight.

Thursday night and Friday bring our next bit of winter weather excitement.
