Philadelphia Eagles beat Atlanta Falcons in first playoff appearance since 2013

They answered the critics the only way possible - with a victory on the field.

Divisional playoff weekend, which many believe to be the greatest of the National Football League season, kicks off Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia - where the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles play host to the sixth-seeded Atlanta Falcons at Lincoln Financial Field.

With no Carson Wentz at QB for the Philadelphia Eagles, the Atlanta Falcons opened as 3-point favorites. "We blocked it out". The 12-play drive the Falcons put together in the third quarter also ended in a punt, and the final drive, which Atlanta marched 74 yards down the field, resulted in a game-ended misconnection in the end zone between Matt Ryan and Julio Jones.

The Eagles will host the NFC Championship Game next Sunday against either the Minnesota Vikings or New Orleans Saints. It's an unprecedented thing but it's because no one has confidence in Foles.

"Get the stop", said Pederson. Foles finished with 246 yards passing, and spread the ball to eight different receivers.

"Nick was great and we have all the faith in the world in him", center Jason Kelce said. "Every team has their pros and cons but the cons list for every team is going to be short this time of year". We believe in him and he believes in us and that's our approach. That young unit improved rapidly during last year's Super Bowl run, recovered nicely from a collapse against the New England Patriots and has now flourished under the tutelage of Marquand Manuel. They will still need to play a top-notch game to come out on top. More than that, he was the team's leader as usual.

"His toughness is exemplified in all that he does", Quinn said. The five-year veteran has a knack for the big play and is on top of his game right now. "For now, it's just tough".

Jake Elliott, who made all three of his field goal attempts on the day, would miss the extra point.

"It was really more like a PCL, and I really started feeling stuff on my PCL". Both went down in the same game against the Redskins and the Eagles still won that game, 34-24. Tennessee hasn't been in the AFC Championship Game since 2003.

Matt Ryan tossed a 6-yard touchdown pass to Devonta Freeman to give the Atlanta Falcons a 10-6 lead over the Eagles with 5:41 left in the second quarter.

The Falcons inched closer in the final seconds, and faced a fourth and goal from a few yards away. The Falcons quarterback was superb against the Los Angeles Rams in the wild-card round, completing 21 of 30 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown in a turnover-free performance.

The Eagles then went 15-10 ahead with another Elliott field goal in the fourth, crucially taking almost eight minutes off the clock with a 14-play, 80-yard drive.

All three running backs - Ajayi, LeGarrette Blount and Corey Clement - fumbled the ball in the first quarter.
