Pakistan criticises Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to India

INDIA and Israel on Monday signed nine agreements, including in the areas of cyber security and defence, following delegation-level talks headed by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Benjamin Netanyahu in Delhi. In Ahmedabad, the two premiers will hold a roadshow from the airport to Sabarmati Ashram and then go to Bavla for paying a visit to iCreate, the innovation and incubation centre.

This will be PM Modi first roadshow in his home state after the BJP's victory in the assembly elections. The 14-km-long roadshow will be heavily guarded by security forces including Israeli snipers 12 teams from "Chetak commandos", Quick Response Teams, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and police, who will be guarding the venues.

"Around 50 stages have been built along the roadside on the eight-kilometre stretch".


They will launch the Centre of Excellence for Date Palms at Kukama, Kutch District, through a video link. As PM Modi hosted his friend "Bibi" for a private dinner, along with his wife Sara, the Prime Minister's residence at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg was also lit up in Indian and Israeli flag colours. "The Indian Jewish people will also welcome the two leaders", he said.

At Sabarmati Ashram, Benjamin Netanyahu and wife Sara will pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi. The latter will be welcomed by PM Modi. "Both the dignitaries will be accorded a grand welcome", Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani had earlier said. Nearly 50,000 people are expected to line the route that the two leaders will take and there is heavy security, including the deployment of Israeli snipers. The two Prime Ministers will dedicate a mobile water desalination van to Suigam Taluka of Banaskantha district through a video link and address a gathering. The two leaders would then proceed for a Sabarkantha-based centre of excellence for agriculture established by Isreal.
