Outrage over Trump's racist and vile 'shithole' slur

Outrage over Trump's racist and vile 'shithole' slur

On Thursday, the president reportedly asked: "Why do we want these people from all these s**thole countries here?"

Apparently, he was so frustrated with the U.S.'s lottery system that he demanded to know why other Americans would want people coming over from "shithole countries", like Haiti, El Salvador and various African nations.

"We would not deign to make comments as derogatory as that about any country that has any kind of socio-economic or other difficulties", Duarte said, adding that much like their African counterparts, millions of U.S. citizens were affected by problems such as unemployment. He acknowledged using some "tough language but denied saying "anything derogatory about Haitians other than Haiti is, obviously, a very poor and troubled country".

"These remarks, so filled with hatred and derision, have been met with indignation by the Cuban people who are proud of the contribution made by people from everywhere, especially from Africa and Haiti, since the emergence of our nation", said a statement published on the website of the state-run newspaper Granma. I've not read one of them that's inaccurate. The number of Norwegians immigrants to the US has steadily declined over the past five decades, according to data from the Migration Policy Institute, which studies global migration trends.

"Not while he's there!" she said, referring to Trump.

The government in Botswana called Trump's comment "reprehensible and racist". "But as president of the United States, to be sitting around discussing policy is a threat to all of us", he added. Never said "take them out".

But he added that the words attributed to him were "not the language used". The president insisted on Twitter Friday that he didn't use that language.

The US president's remarks, said to have been directed at African nations plus Haiti and El Salvador, were condemned by the United Nations human rights office and labelled "divisive" by members of his own Republican Party.

In a series of Friday morning tweets, Trump said he used tough language during Thursday's meeting, but he denied using vulgarities. He revealed this during a meeting with congressional leaders in the Oval Office over immigration issues. The details of the proposal have not been publicised, but the President said: "The so-called bipartisan DACA deal. was a big step backwards".

"I have a wonderful relationship with Haitians", the president said. He also reportedly suggested that the United States should bring in more people from countries like Norway. Republican leaders have said an immigration bill must include other Republican goals, like funding for increased border security.

Akufo-Addo's predecessor, John Dramani Mahama, also criticized Trump's comments Saturday.

"But we've got this flexible definition about what a racist is".

Senior congressman Mike Simpson said: "The rhetoric just makes it more hard, and that's unfortunate".
