OnePlus CEO confirms June launch for OnePlus 6

Building on the grand success of the OnePlus 5T, the company is now working on their next-flagship which might make it on the market as the OnePlus 6. Speaking with CNET at CES in Las Vegas this week, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau revealed that the OnePlus 6 "could" come late in the second quarter, just like the OnePlus 5 in 2017. Other than that, he provided little information.

This year, the company is also planning to tie up with network carriers in United States which means OnePlus sales could skyrocket. But, that's all that was mentioned.

Few other details were revealed about the OnePlus 6. "If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment", he said. This time frame follows the company's regular schedule for device releases and in line with the arrival of the OnePlus 5 past year. Turns out, the so-called OnePlus 6 will be coming out sometime in June. Selling its Android phones through carriers in the USA now seems like a logical step forward to further cement itself as a major competitor in the smartphone market. The OnePlus 6 is expected to adopt a similar hardware approach to what Apple uses for iPhone X, which makes the use of an infrared 3D camera module. Well, owing to popular demand, the Face Unlock feature has been rolled out to the OnePlus 5 through OxygenOS Open Beta 3 update, and now, it has been confirmed for OnePlus 3 and 3T as well.

As far as the CPU concerned, OnePlus 6 is confirmed to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core.

Support from USA carriers has been an issue for Chinese smartphone brands.

Lau did not provide a specific time frame on when a partnership between OnePlus and a US carrier could be formed. Since this is still a speculation, we'll have to wait for any kind of official confirmation.

Lastly, Lau expressed interest in partnering with USA carrier networks to bring the OnePlus flagships to consumers in the States via network contracts.
