Kelly Clarkson claims there's 'nothing wrong' with spanking your kids

Kelly Clarkson is an open book when it comes to her kids.

Speaking to a NY radio station, the American Idol victor said she found "nothing wrong" with smacking and admits she uses the approach with three-year-old daughter River Rose.

"I'm from the South, y'all, so we get spankings", Clarkson stated. "This show really does complement my desires for this industry".

The Grammy victor also disclosed that American Idol producers asked her to join the revival as a judge.

That said, she does wish the new judging panel of Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan luck. I was very excited, and I hope I don't lose that excitement, just being a true fan of people.

Kelly was wrapping up her interview with Ryan Seacrest when she spotted the actress, and immediately went to meet her, asking: "Can I meet you?!" Clarkson made her first debut on the show during The Voice's sophomore season when she served as Team Blake's Battle Round advisor. "The ones that aren't insecure or threatened".

She said: "Meryl Streep caressed my face on the red carpet, so that would probably be my favourite moment of life - other than childbirth, I'm supposed to do that".

"I don't mean, like, hitting her hard, I just mean a spanking", Clarkson, who also has a one-year-old son named Remington Alexander, told 98.9 The Buzz. The "Breakaway" singer is now under fire from social media users after she revealed that she spanks her kids.

The Voice returns Monday, February 26 on NBC.

'That's a tricky thing when you're out in public, 'cause then people are like, you know, they think that's wrong or something, but I find nothing wrong with a spanking, ' she said, adding that the same discipline worked with her when she was growing up in Texas.
