Intel CEO Addresses Meltdown and Spectre CPU Flaws at CES 2018

Speaking at the event in Las Vegas, Krzanich said the company had received no information indicating the exploits had been used to obtain customer data. Intel says it was notified about the bugs in June. Intel's neuromorphic research prototype chip (Loihi) is now fully functioning and will be shared with research partners this year. The past week has been the most discordant for Intel in a while, but data-only band Algorithm helped them chipmaker start-off with all the right notes at the world's largest tech show.

Krzanich showed how companies are using Intel's technology to transform their businesses through AI.

Some of Intel's data center customers, whose thousands of computers run cloud networks, are exploring using microchips from the market leader's rivals to build new infrastructure after the discovery of security flaws affecting most chips.

He was joined on stage by an autonomous vehicle carrying Amnon Shashua, the chief executive office of Mobileye, Intel's driverless technology unit. "And a smart factory will generate one petabyte of data - one petabyte of data - per day".

Infinitely Virtual, a Los Angeles-based cloud computing vendor, is counting on Intel to replace equipment or offer a rebate to make up for the loss in computing power, Chief Executive Adam Stern said in an interview. Krzanich called it a major breakthrough and the next step to "quantum supremacy". So, powered by huge amounts of data from scores of high definition cameras and the power of computing that can make sense of all this data real-time, Intel is confident that it will change the way movies are made.

At the end of the evening, Krzanich brought a "Volocopter" on stage, an autonomous helicopter little bigger than a auto, which uses Intel technology to navigate through the air. E-volo aims for complete autonomy, and so far, the ride is smooth.

Mr. Krzanich also announced a partnership with Paramount Pictures Corporation. Achieving a 49-qubit test chip is an important milestone because it will allow researchers to assess and improve error correction techniques and simulate computational problems. The craft uses Intel Flight Control Technology based on the intelligence found in the Intel Falcon 8+ drone used for inspection, surveying and mapping. "And I can tell you there were numerous approval authorities involved in approving that stunt".

In his speech at CES, Krzanich introduced the newly established Intel Studios - a new state of the art studio dedicated to the production large-scale content for the next generation of immersive media.

He asked, who wouldn't want to fly across the city and view it from above while saving time and skipping traffic?

"Everybody will fly one of these someday", he said.
