Google Duo Spotted Working on Android Smartphones Without the App Installed

Reportedly, the Duo app will now allow users to make video or audio calls to the recipients who don't even have Duo installed on their device. When you see your phone contacts, it will show a Duo symbol indicating that these people have a compatible handset and they will be able to receive the video call without the app.

This feature could be deemed as a masterstroke for Google Duo app resulting in increased app usage. The call receivers can toy with many add-on options besides answering the calls, such as changing camera angles, muting the microphone and so on.

Reports, however, say this ability to make Duo calls to even those who aren't using the app is now restricted to Android users.

The company is also reportedly working on versions of the app for web browsers, and group calls with better audio quality.

An incoming call can instantly fly over the screen with a view of the caller's camera. It works nearly exactly like a normal Duo call, including the Knock-Knock feature. One of the app's shortcomings has been an inability to call people who not on your contacts list and have not registered with the service.

The increasingly tech-savvy user base of the 21st century is quite hung up on messaging apps, and Google messaging apps are high up on the popularity list of such apps. What makes this possible is a feature of Google Play services called App Preview Messaging. Additionally, these users will also get a notification, which will allow them to block a caller from contacting them, or if you choose to continue receiving calls.

What are your thoughts on this new-found feature on Google Duo? However, Google has been up to something brilliant and is now destroying that barrier with a newly added capability to its Google Duo app. It is available only to select developers via an early-access preview program but did not make its way to all users of the app.
