As expected, the game has received a visual boost in the form of 4K support plus a number of other enhancements. Microsoft came up with a trailer that features the enhancements and issued a statement with details on the changes.

Xbox One X owners will now be able to play 2016's Forza Horizon 3 in glorious native 4K (3840×2160) thanks to the free Xbox One X enhanced update available today.

Chiefly, players will be able to gawk at improved auto reflections and shadow resolutions, plus flashier terrain and road surface thanks to spruced up textures.


Original: Yesterday people on Reddit found that Forza Horizon 3 was showing up on their Xbox One as an Xbox One X enhanced game. There isn't any checkerboarding or dynamic scaling solution involved here. The only downside is that the patch appears to lock Forza Horizon 3 to 4K/30fps, instead of giving users a 1080p or 1440p option at a higher frame rate.

It would've been great to see to see a 60 FPS toggle but Digital Foundry said that it might not be possible given the the CPU requirements.
